Mary J. Blige Takes Her ?Growing Pains? On The Road Again

Mary J. Blige, wHO recently finished her heart of the city circuit with knocker Jay-Z, plans to head out this fall for another national run to support of her eighth studio album, "Growing Pains."

The Love Soul Tour, which features supporting acts of the Apostles Robin Thicke and newcomer Dave Young, will kvetch off Sept. 13 in North Charleston, SC, and ends in Concord, Ca in mid October.

As previously reported, the Queen of Hip Hop Soul has united a dozen-plus female music stars to record "Just Stand Up," a charity single for the Stand Up to Cancer enterprise to elevate funds for cancer research. The song dynasty, produced by Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds and Antonio "L.A." Reid, testament be released to radio receiver and will be uncommitted for purchase at Apple's iTunes storage beginning Sept. 2.

'Flyboys' to open Temecula fest

14th annual event runs Sept. 17-21




"The Flyboys," directed by Rocco DeVilliers and starring Stephen Baldwin and Tom Sizemore, will kick off the 14th annual Temecula Valley International Film & Music Festival, which runs Sept. 17-21 at the Movie Experience Theaters at Tower Plaza Center in Temecula, Calif.

Other titles screening during the course of the fest include "Camille," starring Sienna Miller and James Franco; "The Last Lullaby," stellar Sizemore; and "Forever Strong," directed by Adam Abel and Ryan Little.

Bernie Mac dead at 50

Bernie Mac, 50, died at a Chicago-area infirmary Saturday morning time (8/9), afterward suffering complications from pneumonia.

His daughter, Je'niece Childress, said Mac's family line had expected him to fully convalesce when he first entered Northwestern Memorial Hospital in the center of July. However, she told the Chicago Tribune that as time passed, she and her mother braced for the hypothesis that her father, whose real name was Bernard Jeffrey McCollough, could die.

Mac's health first gear became an issue in 2004, when he halted production on "The Bernie Mac Show" due to exhaustion. A year later, Mac aforementioned he had contracted sarcoidosis, a rarefied autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in tissue, most often in the lungs. However, the comic had publicly aforementioned his condition had gone into remitment in 2005. This late bout of pneumonia was unrelated to the sarcoidosis, his publicist said.

Mac first gained national attention at age 32, when he began getting regular gigs on telecasting shows such as HBO's "Def Comedy Jam" after winning a Miller Lite comedy search. He shortly began fashioning movies, which included a bit portion in 1992's "Mo' Money," and a small part as Pastor Clever in the furore classic "Friday." Mac as well appeared in his have HBO Special, "Midnight Mac."

Mac--along with Steve Harvey, D.L. Hughley, Cedric the Entertainer--starred in the Spike Lee-directed stand-up comedy film "The Original Kings of Comedy," which Lee shot during the enormously successful tour of the same name.

In 2001, the comedian began starring in Fox television's award-winning programme, "The Bernie Mac Show." He went on to appear in several movies including "Ocean's Eleven," "Bad Santa," "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" and "Transformers." Though he continued to tour of duty, Mac lately said he was finish his bristle career to focus more on film.

He has 2 movies scheduled for sack later this year: "Soul Men" with Samuel L. Jackson, and "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa." Mac as well will come along with Robin Williams in "Old Dogs," scheduled for a 2009 release.

Mac, a resident of Frankfort, IL, is survived by his wife of more than 30 age, Rhonda McCollough, their daughter, Je'niece, and one granddaughter, Jasmine.

Project: Mrs. Tom Cruise makes her Broadway debut co-starring in a revivification of Arthur Miller's post-World War II drama "All My Sons," set to open Oct. 16. The ensemble cast features John Lithgow, Dianne Wiest and Patrick Wilson.


�Prospects: "I never thought that "Dawson's Creek" and Arthur Miller would be a good touch," Musto quips. But Holmes, 29, has proven herself to be a "game actress" in a variety of films, he adds, and it will be "interesting to see if she has the chops" that Nicole Kidman, Cruise's former wife, demonstrated a decade agone in London and Broadway productions of David Hare's "The Blue Room."





Daniel Radcliffe


Project: The "Harry Potter" star, 19, will reprise his role as a less-than-stable stable son in a revival of Equus, which was a hit on the "West End" last year. Tony Award victor Richard Griffiths ("The History Boys") too returns as his psychiatrist in the Broadway product, which opens Sept. 25.

Project: Nick's child bro, 31, and fellow boy-band ammonia alum, who made his Broadway debut in Rent a few years back, stepped into Spamalot in June.


� Prospects: "The younger Lachey might not be Sir Ian McKellen," Musto says, but ""Spamalot" has already established itself as not being above teen-idol stunt casting. So having 'the brother of the cat who was married to Ashlee Simpson's sister' won't be that much of a blemish on its rep."

Spain's Morena cooking

"Appetit,’" "Flesh" highlight prod’n sked













MADRID -- Spanish production house Morena announced a string of new projects just ahead of its "Che" world premiere Wednesday, including David Pinillos' directorial debut "Bon Appetit" and Paco Cabezas' "Neon Flesh."


Two of Europe's hottest up-and-coming actors, Unax Ugalde ("Che" and "Love in Times of Cholera") and Nora Tschirner (German blockbuster "Rabbit Without Ears") are teamingbup in Pinillos' romantic comedy "Appetit."


"Bon Appetit" tells the story of three young cooks from different European countries who share their passion for cooking in a Swiss avant-garde restaurant.


Morena Films and Orio Produkzioak from Spain, Egoli Tossell from Germany and Zodiac Pictures from Switzerland co-produce the 3 million euros ($6 million) film that Beta Cinema is selling internationally and Eurimages is supporting. The film, which will film in all three countries, begins an eight-week shoot in October.


Mandarin Films has thrown its considerable French clout into Morena's next project, "Neon Flesh," a fast-paced comedy.


The 3.6 million euros ($7.2 million) "Flesh" follows Cabezas' cult horror flm "The Appeared," due to be released by IFC in the U.S. ThinkFilm sold Cabeza's directorial debut -- an official selection at Edinburgh this summer -- to more than 20 territories.


"We're very happy to continue our working relationship with Mandarin, especially since this is a clear sign that if you work with a talented director, horror is not the only Spanish-language genre that can travel across borders," Morena Films producer Juan Gordon said.


Victoria Abril and Oscar Jaenada star in the Spanish-langugage film, which will shoot for 10 weeks in November.


Sweden's Hepp Films and Film I Vast also are co-producing the film, along with Spain's Jaleo Films, De Palacio, Vaca Films and Oberon Cinematografica.


A tender mother-son love story, "Flesh" is about a 22-year-old hustler-turned-aspiring entrepreneur, who tries to put together a brothel in one month, hoping for his mother's respect. With the help of his two useless buddies, Ricky has to map out a business plan that pushes him into a host of hilarious situations.

Side by english with companion Seattle-based rap groups Common Market and Boom Bap Project, the Blue Scholars lED the burden in proclaiming the Pacific Northwest as a breeding ground for "true school" rap. Perceiving themselves as blue-collar intellectuals, DJ/producer Sabzi (born Alexei Saba Mohajerjasbi) and MC Geologic (born George Quibuyen) used their music as a vehicle to promote their socially conscious objectives and to build a rap music scenery in Seattle, WA, and its surroundings. The 2 first base met on the University of Washington campus as students in 1999, just formed the group in early 2002. They bonded more than powerfully as a redoubtable duet during the course of action of doing numerous live shows. Avoiding the bureaucratic red tape recording of record labels, they took the D.I.Y. plan of attack and self-pressed their debut LP, Puritanical Scholars, in early 2004. Instead of recoiling from the spotlight and the local fame, Geologic and Sabzi were bent on cultivating a movement. Tricky Blames Hip Hop For Rise In Gun Crime

British musician Tricky has attacked hip hop music for its role in fuelling gun and knife crime.

The Mercury Prize-nominated star told Uncut magazine: "I love hip hop. But it has to take some responsibility for the gun culture we've got over here. We're getting super-violent."

Tricky, real name Adrian Thaws, added: "You can walk around the Bronx for days on end and nobody bothers you. In England, you can say the wrong thing in a pub and, before you know it, you've got a bottle over your head or a bullet in your brain. English people have got quicker tempers."

The singer/producer, 40, said that youths today had no means of escape and that in his day fashion played a big part in avoiding trouble.

"What have they got to get them through hard times? We had punk rock and ska and bands that made you feel you could do anything," he said.

"We were into clothes in a big way. Anything to take our minds off the stress. They don't have to think about getting dressed. They get the baseball cap and trainers on, that's all it is.

"But they've got nothing to take the pressure off. That's maybe why they are more violent than we were. That and the fact they have access to serious artillery.

"We used to throw stones at each other. Now they shoot bullets at each other. Hip hop has got a lot to do with that."

Fourteen young people have died violently in London alone so far this year.
